How Microneedling Treatment Works
Microneedling uses a device with fine needles that make small punctures in the skin. RF microneedling adds radiofrequency energy delivered through the needles. Both procedures carry risks, including redness, swelling, sensitivity to UV, infection and scarring. Your practitioner will explain the risks, what to expect, and whether either option is appropriate for you. You can learn more about Dr Sana Pirzada (registered medical practitioner, general registration, Ahpra MED0001970963) and visit our clinics in Chatswood, Eastgardens and Mt Annan.
Consultation
Your practitioner assesses your skin and medical history, explains the risks and what to expect, and recommends a suitable approach. You give informed consent before any treatment starts.
Prepare
The treatment area is cleansed. Your practitioner will discuss comfort options with you before treatment.
Treat
The device makes small punctures in the skin. With RF microneedling, heat is also delivered into the skin. Sensation and discomfort vary between people.
Heal
Redness and swelling are common for several days. Other risks include sensitivity to UV, infection, scarring and changes in skin pigmentation. Follow your aftercare instructions and contact the clinic if you are concerned.
